As Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry enters the final year of his contract without a contract extension yet, and the team has repeatedly failed to acquire top-tier stars in free agency this summer, shocking rumors have emerged that the Warriors might consider trading Curry—or even that Curry himself is considering leaving to chase a fifth championship. In response, Warriors owner Joe Lacob personally stepped forward to strongly refute the rumors, angrily denouncing them as fake news designed to generate clicks, and emphasized that the franchise will never let Curry leave the Bay Area.

Addressing the swirling trade rumors on the podcast "The TK Show," Lacob said bluntly: "This is completely fabricated garbage. A lot of people nowadays will make up any fake news just to drive traffic. I don't believe any of it, and I simply cannot picture him wearing another team's jersey."

Lacob revealed that he and Curry have a very close personal relationship and are neighbors. Curry is extremely satisfied with the team's current situation and his life in the Bay Area, and has never expressed any dissatisfaction or desire to leave. General manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. added that Curry is eager to win, but has also made it clear that he wants to finish his career with the Warriors—a stance that has never changed.

The Warriors finished last season with just 37 wins in the regular season and were eliminated by the Suns in the play-in tournament. This summer, the team re-signed De'Anthony Melton and added frontcourt players like Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis. However, they failed to land top stars such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, and LeBron James, leading to criticism that the roster upgrades were insufficient and that Curry's championship window is being wasted.

In response, Lacob defended the front office, emphasizing that the team has been aggressive. Since the trade deadline in February through this summer, the Warriors have made at least two "very substantial" blockbuster trade offers. "Unfortunately, the other side either asked for too much or chose another team. That's just the normal flow of the league—it's not that we were inactive."

Regarding the widespread pessimistic outlook for the Warriors' upcoming season, Lacob remained optimistic. He noted that last season's poor record was largely due to significant injuries. With key players like Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody returning from injuries, the team's depth on both ends of the floor will improve significantly.

Lacob stressed: "I'm really excited about the roster we have. I don't understand why there's so much negativity out there. But anyway, it also shows that we're always the center of the league's attention." The Warriors are expected to actively pursue a contract extension with Curry once he becomes eligible for an extension in late August.
